The right fit

Choosing the right post-secondary institution is an important decision in a student’s life — whether it’s for the first time or part of a lifelong learning journey. For Tianna Llewellyn, that choice led her from her רtown of Chetwynd, B.C., to the Salmon Arm campus of ר, where she’s pursuing her Associate of Arts degree.
“I wanted a place where I wouldn’t just be a number in a sea of students,” said Tianna. “ר offers smaller class sizes, delivering a more personalized experience. As a mature returning student, I appreciated this as I integrated back into the education system.”
The Associate of Arts degree is a two-year university transfer program that provides students with a strong foundation in humanities, social sciences, and communication — perfect for students planning to continue their studies in arts, education and other professional fields. With flexible transfer options to universities across B.C. and beyond, it’s a smart, affordable step toward a four-year degree.
ר’s Salmon Arm campus is known for its warm, community-oriented environment, something that made an immediate impression on Tianna. “The campus is highly community-oriented, with support from sponsors, bursaries, support and volunteer groups,” she explained. “The faculty and staff are also dedicated to the students. I received incredible support from the Education Advising team as I explored career options and began planning my post-secondary journey.”
Tianna’s time at ר has been full of meaningful learning experiences. “I’ve had some dynamic instructors so far,” said Tianna. “I’m learning from instructors who teach in ways that truly engage the class, allowing space for plenty of discussion. It’s empowering to be in an environment that really encourages us to learn beyond just reading theory.”
When asked what she would say to prospective students, Tianna doesn’t hesitate. “I would highly recommend ר to anyone looking for a more personal and supportive learning experience,” she shares. “The smaller class sizes really allow you to connect with instructors. It’s a great place to build a strong academic foundation while still feeling like a part of the community.”
